26mTang Mo the Asian Elephant wants to be a mother, she dotes on the three calves in Taronga’s herd but she hasn’t quite hit it off with virile bull elephant, Gung. Will the last adult female in the Sydney herd without a calf conceive? And see Taronga’s Wild Life Hospital care for a rare sub-Antarctic species which washed ashore a staggering 2000 kilometres from home.
7. Bongo Baby, Tasmanian Devils, Condor Chick
26mTaronga is part of a breeding program to make sure endangered Tasmanian Devils remain on this planet. In this week’s episode of Wild Life at the Zoo, female Tasmanian Devil ‘Nina’ has mated with two feisty males, so who sired the precious Tasmanian Devil joeys? Keepers also prepare for the birth of one of the rarest mammals in the world and see the moment an Andean Condor breaks its way out of its egg.
